Enema

This is a pharmaceutical preparation (usually aqueous) intended to be instilled into the rectum. It’s used to evacuate the lower bowel, to treat the lower bowel locally, to supply medication systemically, or for diagnostic purposes. An example is a barium enema which is an opaque contrast medium used with X-ray of the lower colon.
