Affinity Constant

Definition of Affinity Constant from the PharmacyDictionary.in

Affinity Constant

The “Affinity Constant” is the reciprocal of the dissociation constant of a chemical or enzymatic reaction. It’s described by the law of mass action or the Michaelis-Menten equation. This constant is also known as the association constant. It provides a measure of the strength of the interaction between a ligand (such as a drug) and its receptor. A higher affinity constant indicates a stronger interaction, which can influence the efficacy of a drug or the rate of an enzymatic reaction.
