Alcoholysis

Alcoholysis is a chemical process in which a compound undergoes a reaction with an alcohol. This reaction can result in the removal of a group from the compound or the breaking of a ring structure within the compound. It’s similar to hydrolysis, but instead of water (H2O), an alcohol is used as the reacting substance. This process is commonly used in organic chemistry for various synthesis reactions.
