Cephalemia
Synonyms or meaning of Cephalemia
Cephalemia is a medical term that refers to congestion in the brain. This can be either active or passive.
Active congestion usually occurs when there is an increased flow of blood to the brain, which can be caused by certain conditions such as inflammation or infection. This increased blood flow can lead to swelling and pressure within the brain, which can cause a variety of symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and in severe cases, seizures or loss of consciousness.
Passive congestion, on the other hand, occurs when there is a decreased outflow of blood from the brain. This can be caused by conditions that affect the veins and sinuses that drain blood from the brain, such as venous thrombosis (a blood clot in a vein). Passive congestion can also lead to increased pressure within the brain, resulting in similar symptoms to active congestion.
