Chimera

1. In experimental embryology, the individual produced by grafting an embryonic part of one animal on to the embryo of another, either of the same species or of another species. 2. An individual who has received a transplant of genetically and immunologically different tissue such as bone marrow. 3. In cattle, twins with two immunologically different types of erythrocytes as a result of admixture of foetal circulations through placental anastomosis of blood vessels; by extension, also humans with two immunologic types of erythrocytes.
