Affinity Chromatography

Definition of Affinity Chromatography from the PharmacyDictionary.in

Affinity Chromatography

“Affinity Chromatography” is a technique used to isolate proteins based on their biological properties, specifically their capacity to bind to a special molecule known as the ligand. In this process, a column is filled with material coated with the ligand, and the protein mixture is passed through it. Proteins that have a high affinity for the ligand will bind to the material and can be eluted separately, while others will pass through. This method is highly specific and is often used in biochemistry and molecular biology to purify and analyze proteins.
