Air-Suspension Coating

Definition of Air-Suspension Coating from the PharmacyDictionary.in

Air-Suspension Coating

“Air-Suspension Coating” is a batch process used to add a covering layer to units of a solid dosage form or drug particles. This is achieved by suspending them in a gaseous stream within an enclosed chamber and spraying a rapidly drying material onto the surface of the floating particle units. The process allows for a uniform coating to be applied to each particle, enhancing the properties of the dosage form. This technique is commonly used in the pharmaceutical industry for the production of coated tablets or pellets.
