Glanders

This is a contagious disease of horses that can be transmitted to humans. It’s caused by the bacterium Pseudomonas mallei and is characterized by purulent inflammation of the mucous membranes and skin eruptions of nodules that coalesce and break down, forming deep ulcers, which may end in necrosis of cartilage and bone.
