Synonyms or meaning of Gonorrhea

This term refers to an infection with Neisseria gonorrhoeae, most often transmitted sexually. In males, it’s marked by urethritis with pain and purulent discharge. It’s commonly asymptomatic in females, but may extend to produce salpingitis, oophoritis, tubo-ovarian abscess, and peritonitis. Bacteremia may occur in both sexes, causing skin lesions, arthritis, and rarely meningitis or endocarditis.
