Soap

1. A metallic salt of a fatty acid. Example: Castile soap. 2. An anionic surface active agent used to cleanse or wash. 3. Any compound of one or more fatty acids, or their equivalents, with an alkali. A detergent that is much employed in liniments, enemas, and making pills. Also a mild aperient, antacid, antiseptic.
